It’s four in the morning and I’ve been sitting up in bed with this feeling. I’ve had it for a few days now.
Yesterday, I thought of you which, in itself, is nothing new but, this time, I felt a pang in my chest and a shot of warmth as I smiled, all alone in my room.
Sure…
I say I miss you all the time and I do, but, this was different. This was a longing, a sense of belonging. I. Be. Longing.
Slow it down…
From the day we met I knew I called you to me. I knew there was something different and special about you and about me with you.
That was me with you.
I was me with you.
I saw this look in your eyes and I knew a part of you needed a part of me but I just couldn’t figure out how the pieces fit.
I couldn’t figure it out!
I’d figured out everything else. Where to put everyone, like trinkets on shelves lining the reccesses of what used to be my heart but you…
You refused to fit.
You re-fused the fit.
I struggled with that and, then, I just let go and I began to accept the fact that you don’t fit, that you forged and fused your own space in my life where no one else fits.
Shit.
I don’t know why you’re here and I don’t know how long you’re staying but I know that, in its purest form, I love you. For all the things we’ve said or done that have hurt each other, for all the things we’ve said or done that have made us excruciatingly happy –– I think we’re finally friends, now.
